Kilchattan School Awarded Community Climate Asset Fund Grant

We successfully applied for grant money from Keep Scotland Beautiful's Community Climate Asset Fund. The total awarded was £2,2693.72 which we have used towards buying a strong and sturdy garden shed, timber to build raise beds in our polytunnel, compost, compost bins, wormery, staging and some much needed new tools. This is all to help us grow our own produce year round as when we have grown our gardens outdoors, the vegetables are generally ready in the summer when we are all on holiday! We can now complete our polytunnel with our new raised beds and staging and get growing for 2021. The food we grow we will give to the school kitchen to incorporate into our school dinners and if we grow too much we can sell it to our local general store so that all on Colonsay can enjoy our produce!
